Starting solids and a new haircut for Brady

Brady has been so excited to start solids. He told me :] He always leans forward to try and grab my food when we are eating dinner, he is so interested in what we are eating, and he is officially 6 months - time to start :] I was so excited when I went to the store to get some baby food!! I got some rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, and a variety of starter fruits and veggies. On Sunday we tried the rice cereal and Brady loved eating it!!

He would lean forward toward the spoon and open his mouth :]

Unfortunately, he got a little rash on his chest, neck and back after we tried so I've stopped giving it to him and in a few days we will try oatmeal. I hope he isn't allergic to rice! Has anyone had a similar experience or know anything about rashes after eating rice cereal? It also made him really constipated which was not fun... So hopefully things go better with the oatmeal!

Another fun activity for the night was giving Brady a little hair trim. His hair is only growing in the top middle section of his head, so it is a perfect faux-hawk! I love it, but it was getting rather long on the top haha. So I used our clippers and put on the longest guard we had so it wouldn't take off much. It wasn't a huge change, but it was fun to see Brady's reaction to getting a hair cut! He was smiling so big for his Daddy!!

A little bit nervous for the first buzz!

But he was so good the whole time, and didn't get sad once :]

We didn't really get a good after shot... but like I said, it doesn't look much different. Just a little shorter on top :]

6 months

Look at that cute face. Can you believe he is 6 months old? Me either!! These past months have literally flown by. I cannot believe it was half a year ago that we brought this little blessing home from the hospital.

I remember how stressed out I was with a newborn. Every little cry he made I jumped up and tried my best to soothe him, but I really had no idea what I was doing. I was new at being a parent and I was so grateful that he was new at being a baby haha. He didn't know any different if his onesie was on backwards or if he didn't get a bath for a couple days. That is one thing I was told before I had Brady and I was so happy to think back on that as my son was peeing all over the changing station. He is learning just like I am and it is a process that everyone has to go through :] It's hard being a new parent, but I love every minute of it!

Brady has changed so much recently! Some new fun things with Brady:

  • He can sit up on his own for 5-10 minutes - after that he gets tired and will just tip over. So if I'm not sitting close to him, I surround him with pillows haha
  • He can roll from front to back and back to front. I will put him on the floor with toys and he will be across the room in a few minutes!
  • He loves to talk and make lots of noises while he is laying on his back - the past few days he has been gargling!!
  • I have tried rice cereal a few times and he has LOVED it! He leans forward towards the spoon and opens his mouth. He even tries to grab on to it and pull it in sometimes!
  • He is ticklish :] He holds in his laugh though! I wish he would do a full on gut laugh, but he just does small little giggles for now. I love it so much.
  • He has only been waking up around 4 the past few days and then he is up for the day at 7 which makes me so happy. When he was sick he was waking up 2 or 3 times during the night... terrible...
  • His favorite toy is Sophie the giraffe that his Grandma bought for him. It is the perfect toy because it is light weight, easy to hold, and so fun to suck on!

Brady is such a happy baby. He is content just playing alone, and he also loves sitting on my lap and reading books or playing with toys. My favorite time of day is his morning feeding. When he wakes up at 7, Jordan is just starting to wake up so he will bring him in bed with us and we all just lay and cuddle and laugh in bed. I nurse him and Jordan lays with us and we talk about our days :] it is probably the best thing in the world!

So today after Jordan left I decided I wanted to do a mini 6 month photo shoot down on the grass at our apartment complex. I was so happy the pictures turned out a million times better than when I take them at our Wymount apartment in Utah :] There were too many cute ones to pick from, so sorry for the picture overload :] Enjoy!

The Start of our Summer in Sacramento

This year Jordan and I decided to spend our summer in Sacramento where Jordan would be selling door-to-door pest control. I NEVER thought I would ever see the day when Jordan became a salesman because of his bad preconceived notions of them. But here we are! Two weeks ago we finished up finals and packed up to move to Cali. It was pretty stressful having to pack everything for us and a baby. It made it worse that we had a "stay" pile and a "go" pile for things that we wold take with us or things that we would leave in Utah. Luckily my amazing mom came and made it 100x better :] She was such a huge help and I don't think I could have done it without her!

It was really hard to leave some of our good friends, especially since they are moving away for good this summer and we don't know when we will see them again :[ We had so many fun nights with Jon, Nicole, Landon, Keisha, Nate, and Lyndsey and we will miss them so much!

We were so grateful to Taylor and Emily for driving to Sacramento with us and helping us out along the way :] We all made it there safely and the babies luckily slept for a good portion of the drive. We had planned on having our keys slipped under our door mats at our apartments in California when we arrived at like 2:00 A.M. So we get up to our complex and are so excited to finally see our apartment and be done driving, and our worst nightmare comes true. No keys. So we call like 3 different numbers and finally got ahold of the maintenance guy and he was able to come like 45 minutes later and come let us in. We were not very happy, but we were just glad to have a place to sleep for the night. We got everything unpacked the next day and Jordan went right to work!

He has been working every day from about 8:30 to 8:30.... that leaves me at home with the little man to hang out and relax :] It has been crazy getting everything set up and getting settled in, but I feel like we are finally all unpacked. We are LOVING life here! It is pretty hot already for being May, which was a big surprise coming from Utah. It will definitely take some getting used to!

Emily and I have been getting together with Brady and Elise a lot since they live right below us. We have been going on walks, laying out, and playing lots of peek-a-boo :] Our most recent play date was bubbles on the grass! The babies had fun, but we will have to do it again on a day that isn't so windy!!

We love having our team living at the same complex with us. We are all so close and get together at least once a week. This weekend we had a little Cinco De Mayo party and went swimming. The boys showed off their sweet farmers tans while playing some Marco Polo :]
