Welcome Home Brady

After nine long months the day finally arrived :] I woke up on Saturday November 17 with contractions. This was nothing special, because I had woken up with them before and I didn't really think anything of it. But on the inside I was secretly hoping they were real and the baby would be coming soon :] As the morning went on, Jordan was out of the apartment and I was getting ready for the day. I realized my contractions were getting progressively stronger and closer together. I was like full on leaning over and bracing myself for them! I started to time my contractions for the next two hours to see if I was actually in labor.

My contractions were definitely consistent and close together! I was getting anxious to find out if this was the real deal. When Jordan got home I told him about my contractions and that I thought I might be in labor. We had just got sent home from the hospital the day before, for thinking my water had broken and I didn't want to get sent home again! That was probably the worst false alarm ever.

I told Jordan to get ready and we would pack our bags and head out in an hour if my contractions were still going. We paced the apartment and counted down the minutes until it was time to go. We couldn't wait much longer than 30 minutes before we were out the door and on our way to the hospital. The nurse checked us in around 12:00 and I was dilated to a 2 and 90 percent effaced. I was excited that I was already a little further along than before. She said she would keep us for an hour and then check me again to make sure I was really in labor and I was progressing. Longest hour of my life!!! But we were really excited to be there :]

After the first hour, the nurse checked me again and I had progressed to a 3 :] It was official! I was in labor and we were admitted to the hospital. The baby was going to come no matter what! I got all hooked up to the IV and now it was just time to wait. We LOVED our nurse and she was so nice and explained everything that was going on.

I got an epidural about 30 minutes later and we were loving life :] I was really nervous to get the epidural, but the worst part was probably the doctor ripping the tape off my back... piece of cake :] It was crazy to feel like I had tree trunks for legs! But I would much rather have numb legs than feel those contractions all day long. While we were waiting, Jordan tried to "study" because he had a big assignment due on Monday, but that didn't work out very well... But he was loving the boppy :]

We ended up just talking about how excited we were and waiting for the nurse to come in and check me again :] After I was admitted, another hour passed and I had progressed to a 4! We were so happy! I stayed at a 4 for another hour and so the doctor came in to break my water to speed things up. That was definitely an interesting sensation. When she broke it though, she told me that there was meconium in the water so we would have to take some precautions when the baby was born including the NICU team being present to suction out his lungs. After another hour I was still at a 4 so they started me on pitocin to make things really get going. I was a little discouraged at this point, but we were still excited to meet our little man!

At 5:00 the nurse came in to check me again and I had gone from a 4 to a 9 in one hour after being on pitocin!! We couldn't believe how soon he was going to be here :] We waited one more hour and I was to a 10. I was like freaking out! This was it! The nurse said she could see his head already and ran to call the doctor and get everything ready. She came back in and we tried one little push just to see what would happen. About a quarter of the baby's head came out and she told me I couldn't push anymore until the doctor arrived. Jordan was making me laugh and he said every time I would giggle, the head would come out a little more! I'm happy to say that I could be giggling while I was dilated to a 10 and pushing my baby out :] haha

The doctor arrived and after 2 more pushes, Brady was here :] He came out with all his fingers and toes and was cute as could be. Since there was meconium in the amniotic fluid, she cut the cord quickly and passed him on to the NICU team. They suctioned out his mouth and lungs. He was gurgling the fluid and it was making me nervous. I wanted to get up and go check on him, but I was still numb from the waist down. Hearing his little cries and gurgles made me teary eyed and I was waiting anxiously to hold my baby. Luckily everything went perfectly and Brady was safe :] After the nurses were done, they passed him off to Jordan to hold for the first time.

He fell in love instantly! I loved watching Jordan hold our baby and seeing the love for him in his eyes. He was such a proud father and it was the best feeling in the world to feel like our family was one step closer to being complete. We couldn't be happier to meet our little boy, Brady Jordan Lamprecht. He was born at 6:14pm weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces and 20 inches long

Mommy's turn to meet the little man :]

It was such an amazing experience and we were so blessed through the whole process. We couldn't have asked him to come at a more perfect time or had a more perfect birth. It's crazy how much you can love someone after just barely meeting them. We knew he was meant to be with us and we were so happy that we were blessed with such an amazing son :]

After the delivery, Jordan went with Brady to the nursery for him to get his bath and be evaluated. Meanwhile back in the hospital room....  I enjoyed some dinner :] The hospital food was actually really good! I was pleasantly surprised :]

Jordan and Brady came back to my room and we spent the next two days in the hospital learning how to be parents, loving our son, and enjoying some visitors!

We came home Monday afternoon and have been loving our little boy ever since :] He makes us so happy and we can't imagine life now without him!
